Ed & Gail Smith Family
Smith Farms is a large grain farm with a love for horses, family owned and operated in north central Iowa. To Ed and Gail Smith, family time is being together and being outdoors with nature and their HORSES.
As a child, Ed’s Grandfather bought him his first horse. Ed got his love of horses from his Grandfather and passed it on to his own children training, riding and showing horses with them at the local saddle club and fairs.
Ed prides himself on raising horses that are beautiful to look at and a pleasure to ride and be around. Ed and Gail enjoy selecting good breeding stock and watching the foals grow and develop. We raise quarter horses with excellent muscular conformation combined with a great disposition. A great disposition means safety, trust and enjoyment for your family.
Our extraordinary horses are worth the trip. We are located 2 hours Northwest of Des Moines or 5½ hours west of Chicago, if you choose to fly it is a short 20 minute drive from the Fort Dodge Regional Airport to our farm. We are confident that once you come see, and ride, our horses you will want to buy one, and if you are not satisfied, we want you to return the horse to us.

| The “Bonanza” photo (above) is our 2005 Smith family vacation. We trailered a group of our horses from the cornfields of Iowa to the steep rocky hills of the Black Hills of South Dakota. Our family now includes some novice riders and we all rode the trails to Harney Peak and Mount Rushmore and had a fantastic time. At home in Iowa, we enjoy trail riding through the wooded hills and creeks of Brushy Creek State Park (picture below). |
